Things to do in Apalachicola
Apalachicola's compact center holds the riverfront, planned squares, galleries, and several museums. Scipio Creek, fishing charters, paddling water, and the estuary nature center in Eastpoint extend the visit beyond downtown.
Historic core
Allow a half day to link Riverfront Park, Market Street, Gorrie Square, Trinity Episcopal Church grounds, and whichever state-park museums are open. Chapman Botanical Gardens currently carries a construction closure notice.
Museums in and beyond downtown
John Gorrie Museum and Orman House cover science and river-trade history on limited state-park schedules. The former Apalachicola Maritime Museum on Water Street is closed; the new Franklin County Maritime Heritage Museum west of downtown publishes weekday hours.
Working waterfront
Visit Scipio Creek in daylight for public views of shrimp boats, marinas, fuel, gear, and seafood businesses. Water Street adds the broad river and downtown docks without entering active work areas.
Estuary and water
Battery Park has a public ramp with direct river and bay access, but current, weather, heat, and working traffic make it different from a downtown walk. Choose a local guide or outfitter for river and marsh routes beyond familiar protected water.
Visit a house shaped by river trade
Orman House connects the early port economy with domestic architecture and a garden above the river. Check current Florida State Parks hours.

Estuary Nature Center in Eastpoint
The Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR) Nature Center combines river-and-bay exhibits with trails, boardwalks, and scheduled programs. Allow a separate drive and roughly one to two hours when it is open Tuesday–Saturday.
